the wine at Casa Vigna
With advice from the Italian neighbors and hard work, new posts and wiring were installed, the vineyard was pruned, restored, and made healthy again.
Dolcetto wine:
In our old, small vineyard, we grow the Dolcetto grape. This is an authentic grape variety from the Piemonte region: a straightforward, no-nonsense wine with a simple flavor profile. The classic Dolcetto (alc. 10%) is truly an ‘everyday wine,’ often enjoyed with pasta and pizza. It also pairs well with salami or dry sausage due to its tannins. On a summer day, you can drink the wine slightly chilled, which gives it a rosé-like character. If you leave the bottle open for a day (let it breathe :-)), the wine will develop a different character. You don’t need to age the wine for years; it can also be enjoyed young.
Barbera wine:
Another red grape variety from the Piemonte region is Barbera. This grape is slightly larger and has a higher sugar content, which results in a fuller-bodied wine (± alc. 14%). The ruby-red wine has low tannins and is smooth to drink. It pairs particularly well with meat or on a winter evening, where the wine truly shines.
Frizzante:
A small touch of frizzante (a slight fizz) is characteristic of our white wine. Bottling it on a full moon creates this little bit of fresh carbonation.
We sell a beautiful red Dolcetto and a white, lightly sparkling wine for €7.50 per bottle.
